Dog Hip Medicine--Help on remembering

advice buying torch set

Six weeks and counting down to our second baby. I need some recommendations for a decent box of cigars. Two years ago a ordered from JRCIGARS and got "rave" reviews on my selection. I don't remember what I ordered but it wasn't your typical drugstore cigars that people usually give away. Most of the people that will recieve these are not cigar affectionatos, but that doesn't mean they deserve a 2 year old, 50 cent cigar for their yearly smoke. On the other hand they wouldn't appreciate a 5 dollar cigar either, so no sense spending too much money either :-laf . Any recommendations for a low-med priced mild cigar for this traditional dad to be?

A good quality low cost cigar is JR cigars Alternative to the Cuban Cohiba Robusto. They are about $1 apiece (actually their website shows them at $14. 95/20 now but I'm not sure that is a correct price - I've always paid $19. 95). I am a cigar afficionado and have ~400 cigars in my humidor right now. They are the only cheaper cigar I have in there. I've recommended them to many people and have never gotten a complaint and every cigar lover that I've recommended them to has added them to their regular smokes. They are better than many $5-$7 cigars I've had.

Our maintenance manager at the plant passed out little Snap-on screwdrivers when they had their baby. Branded with the baby's name, they come with little pink handles or little blue ones, for obvious reasons... I know that's not what you asked, but I thought it was a clever idea and just had to share it. Congratulations!

Somehow I got on the mailing list for Thompson's Cigars, out of Tampa. I only average about 1 or 2 cigars a month, so I'm not an expert. But I do enjoy trying some different ones.

I recently gave my buddy a gift pack for his birthday. He's much more of an afficianado and really liked some of them. Not bad for $30, including a baseball cap and nice little aluminum cigar case.

They usually have a bulk pack of decent cigars for anywhere from $1-3 each. I bet they'd have something with a blue or pink band just for celebrating a new addition to the family. Take a peek or give them a ring.

Hope this helps.

Whatever you do don't buy any of the baby boy/baby girl cigars - they are all awful!

If your looking to get a better quality cigar for people who rarely smoke you can go with the Macanudo Portofino. JR Cigar sells them for $86. 25 a box (25) and they are a very mild cigar that most anyone would like. I keep a box around for someone who asks for a cigar but I know doesn't smoke often. They also come in metal tubes which gives a good presentation and protects the cigar in case they need to carry them for a bit before smoking them.

Myself I bought a box of Astral Grand Reserve vintage Maestro cigars for when my daughter was born. The cigars come in glass tubes and are cedar wrapped. Also came in a very nice box which I have made into a jewelry box that I'll give my daughter down the road (when it won't become another toy box). A few people that I gave them to smoked about 2 inches (these are about 10 inch cigars) and put them down - oh well.

Bought a Partagas Black Label for a buddy of mine. He's into maduras - said it was great. Also likes San Luis Rey. Don't smoke 'em myself. Couple puffs--->nausea. :(
