Anyone a stogie smoker? I am researching my first smoke and enjoy meeting with tobacconists. I know Steve St. Laurent is a huge cigar fan.

IMO Opus X are HIGHLY overrated. Don Carlos & Hemingways are better cigars in the the AF line. For your first smoke I'd recommend trying Macanudo's. I keep a box around for newbies. They are a fine mild cigar. Most will outgrow them quickly and prefer a stronger cigar but they are great for beginners. I purchase their Portofino - they come wrapped in cedar and in a tube so they can handle being out of a humidor for a couple days. What I recommend beginning smoker do is buy singles for a while until they figure out what they like. Start with Mac's (nearly all are mild - their Robust line is a little stronger but still pretty mild). Then ask for other recommendations from your tobacconist on mild cigars and start working your way up. As far as size vary your sizes around and figure out what you like. Personally I like Robusto's and larger. 52-55 ring and then different lengths depending on how much time I have to smoke. I have quite a few double corona's in my dor. JMHO

i smoke a locally produced cigar called "betsy ross" its made by a company called "F. X. SMITH'S SONS CO" out of McSherrystown, PA. i was never a cigar smoker, untill a friend of mine was puffing on one of these and i decided to try one...

Well, the wife-to-be and I smoked our first tonight. I picked out a Macanudo and a 4 3/4 x 54 "Big Butt Gordito. " I picked that one since I liked the size since we didn't have a whole lot of time to enjoy one. Also since I don't have a humidor yet, I thought it be better to light that one. For my first smoke, the BB was excellent, though I have nothing to compare to. We are completely hooked! I will be buying a few sampler packs online until I find one I like. Its also nice to have two tobacco shops in town. We cannot wait until our next smoke.

I'm far from an afficionado, but out of all the cigars I ever smoked... I had a fantastic Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva. It was so good that I still have the band!

The other notable was some kind of Cuban cigar... that was THE best I ever had. I wish I could remember the name of it... that way I could find something that approximates it.

I smoke one here and there. I like the Leon Jiminez. They make a big fatty, something like 4x60 dark oily maduro wrapper. MMmmmmm.

My neighbor gave me a Cuban Romeo & Juliet yesterday.

Henry Clay is one I've been smoking latley also.

As long as theyre not too mild.

well im not a big smoker more of a chewer but one of the few cigars that i have had was somethign i forgot the name but it was pretty good i wish i could remember the name but its usually a pouch of redman for me

I had a sweet little number from a Cigar shop in Key West. I'm pretty sure it was Cuban of dubious legality.

I just can't bring myself to make it a regular occurence-- too gross. Once in a while, it's pleasing to my senses.
