Circular Saw - Brands?

Looking at buying a new circular saw. I think I am between a Mikita and a Milwalkee Tilt-Lok 7 /14 inch saw.



Which one do you guys that use them every day reccommend? The Mikita is heavier 11. 1 pounds versus the Milwalkee at 10. 6 pounds. Which one will hold up better.



Feel free to suggest other brands as well. I don't use every day, but like to buy the best, that last a long time for commerical users - then I KNOW it will last me a lifetime.

Skillsaw has been the standard in the trades for many years. I own a couple and have used them at work over the years.



If I were looking for a new saw I would buy a mag77 in a heartbeat.

A Skill77 is a great saw choice in 110 volt.

It all depends on what you are going to do with the circular saw. I have three types. A 7 1/4" Skill Mag77 warm drive for framing, a regular 7 1/4" Milwaukee 110 volt for lighter overhead work and roof decking and a 6 1/2" DeWalt 18 Volt cordless for that quick cut and you don't want to drag out the extension cord. Sometime I will use the DeWalt for cutting OSB on a small roof. The Skill warm drive is my favorite, but even the Mag gets heavy for some applications.

Wow, thanks Ryan for finding that thread. I had searched and searched so I could report the end of my pawn shop trading. In the end I traded my old Skil and old Milwaukee sawsall in and ended up with a Bosch wormgear and a Milwaukee Super Sawsall. Oo.



IMHO, you need one of each. The wormgear, Bosch or Skil (same company now), for 99. 9% of the work and the other circular saw with the blade on the wrong side for a few jobs where the wormgear doesn't work well.
