PE4200 leaking ????

Just wanted to drop a note about City Diesel. This place is a Top Notch operation.

I had a problem with a defective AFE Filter in a Scotty II. I thought that I had bought it from City Diesel, but un-fortuantely a flood had destroyed my office in the basement acouple of months ago and all of my receipts for truck stuff were destroyed as well.

I contacted Tim at City Diesel and he advised to send the filter to him for a replacement, even though we could not be sure that I bought from them and did not have a receipt. Just got an e-mail from Tim and the new filter is on the way, less then a week after sending in the old one. As I recall too, they had the best price on the Scotty also.

They seem like a great company and just wanted to throw some good words their way.

Thanks

PS I am in not way affilited with CIty Diese, just satisfied customer.

filter problem

When I pulled off the filter to clean it I found that the flange that mounts to the turbo intake hose had a HUGE crack in it. The crack was about half way between the filter end and the end of the flange ( if that makes sense) and was about 4 inches long. Dont know how long it was there as this was going to be the first cleaning. Dont know if it was caused by vibration/engine movement etc or the way it mounts to the intake hose.

CIty Diesel chanegd the filter out at no cost though. I still have to figure out what caused the crack and try to correct for it in the future.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

J-

PS from talking to several other members I am the first one to have a problem like this, so I'm quessing it was a filter defect.

A defect in the filter is the only thing that we can figure as well. This is the first filter out of a couple thousand that we've had a problem with. When Tim at City called asking how to do a warranty claim, I was stumped. We'd never had to one before :D

Good news is that I had done an oil analysis acouple of week prior and my Silica reading came back good so I dont think that the crack let anything in.

Rsnaith, thats for the "indirect" help too, new filter should be here next couple of days.

Thanks

Naw, I did nothing except scratch my head and tell them to call aFe :D I deal with City Diesel on a regular basis, and they truly are one of the gems in the diesel performance industry.
