For over the past year I have been praising the City Diesel Actuator as the best option for our trucks when our turbo actuator fails and they do fail. Here is another reason to go with them. Last fall when the cold weather hit my engine developed a surge/ lope when idling. It was worse when it was in ReGen. At times it seemed that the lope caused an early regen. It was strange as No codes were thrown. I had tried the usual items; new FCA for starters which made the lope much worse. Then I tried a new fuel rail pressure sensor. 5 long hours later in the warmth of summer the engine never ran smoother.. Until the temp hit 26 the other day then the lope was back.. Grumpy an frustrated I came back here an discovered that there was an email waiting for me. I never knew I had a mailbox here...
Jason from City Diesel had been watching our posts an wrote me with a solution. I had gotten one of the very first turbo actuator adapter kits. It turns out that there was a gear clearance issue causing the actuator to bind. When it would bind it would cause the engine to lope. A phone call to Jason and City Diesel sent out a new unit no charge. I didn’t need the actuator but he sent a new one anyway. I’m happy to report that my engine loping is finally fixed. Any company that will go the extra mile to make sure a customer is satisfied is aces in my book.
In the picture you can see where the gear clearance was an issue. The new housing has been opened no more issues.
Thanks again to Jason an the staff at City Diesel.
