driving home today I was going through town and shifted into 4th gear and her a clank sound. (sounded like I ran over a hubcap) . So I pushes in the clutch and it did it again. So I got home and tried to do it again and it won't do it on a bet now. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Almost sounds like your front axle engaged/disengaged for a second. Somtimes they clunk. Then again, that doesn't sound much like running over a hubcap.

Mine has always done the same thing. I've noticed it's better if I make a conscious effort to push the clutch all the way to the floor instead of coming up just short.

Has anyone with the 48RE heard any clanking sounds? I'm hearing something like that and it happens when I let off of the accelerator. Even has done it in neutral and when I revved the engine.

i sometimes get some clanking in my driveline [usually 5th for me] and i think it is due to me not pressing the clutch down far enough [maybe still dragging a touch] and it seems to do it more often on a cold trans
