44' Vintage tripple axle vs Short-Box Cummins...Which Hitch?

Hi, I want to get a comm class A license here in CA so we can double tow, and then to teach my wife, so she can get her license as well. I used to drive semis on the farm in Canada a couple of decades ago and had a class 1 license up there, but of course it didn't transfer over to the DMV when I came to the US. I've talked to a couple of truck driving schools here and they want $1000-1500 for a full class A course. I don't think I need all that - only a refresher, but of course, a class A license is needed to rent a truck/trailer and to get it to DMV for the drive test. Anyone have an idea of the best way for me to get my class A with a minimum of hassle and expense? I was thinking of advertising for someone who has a class A license and may be willing to drive around with me for a few hours, and then get a rental truck to DMV. Any suggestions???

I too haul double trailers.

A 27 ft 5th wheel with a 12 ft motorcycle trailer.

The DMV were just jerks and in no way can I get legal unless I have a full commercial license just to haul around my 52 ft total long rig.

They could care less if it weighs less than 26000 pounds and I am not for hire.

They dont care if it's for recreational purposes only.

Screw them and if I get in a wreck it's my fault I understand that.

My CHP buddy said set my cruise control at 60 and go have fun.

I will not play there game at the DMV. .

If I get cought and get a ticket then I have to pay up and buy a 28ft toybox 5th wheel.

Untill then I am camping cheap and having fun.
