Just got a new truck with the larger hitch opening, tried all my pins and none fit. Would like to get a couple new ones, locking for trips and non-locking for short term use. Haven't had to buy any in years. Any suggestions for good quality pins at a decent price? Don't need anything immediately, so ordering and waiting a week or so would be fine.

Second question. The truck came with a reducer so I can use my existing, fixed drop, draw bars. Any advantage to replacing these with 2.5" draw bars for noise or other reasons?

Thanks, Mike

I was using the sleeve adapter on my air ride draw bar that had the 2" shank and the extra distance between the actual hitch tube and the actual draw bar caused the pin to slam forward and backwards enough that it bent the pin and made the hole in the receiver tube oval to the tune of about an extra 5/16"! I had to beat the pin out with a drift pin and do some build up welding in the receiver holes. I now have to tap the pin in but it doesn't have the slop now. To avoid this I welded the sleeve directly to the draw bar so that it doesn't move back and forth now and this keeps the pin from bending now. So to answer your question, I'd advise getting new 2 1/2" draw bars so that you have less play, no pin bending and no hole elongating.

I have only used my hitch once to pull a friends boat out of the water. I also noticed a very sloppy fit with the adapter and 2" hitch. SNOKING

I appreciate the feedback. Looked around town and didn't find much. Ordered some items from Amazon, we'll see how they work:

2x Reese 45323 Titan Ball Mount 5" drop
1x Trimax SXT5 Premium 5/8" Class V Extended Receiver Lock
1x CURT 40030 2-5/16 In. Diameter Chrome Trailer Ball
1x CURT 40090 2 In. Diameter Chrome Trailer Ball

also picked up an inexpensive non-locking pin, from the local farm store, to work with the 2.5" hitch for around the yard.

Thanks, Mike
