Transmission shudder at low speed!

3rd gen camshafts- are they all the same?

I'm just wondering if I have a problem. Seems like when I am pulling my TT the clatter is louder than normal and I am not sure if this is normal or if I have a injector problem or something else. I do not have smoke problems or hard starting problems---------I am about to run over the 36000 mile mark and was thinking of taking it in.

Any Ideas or is this normal

Thanks

My '03 sounds like one or more injectors are not doing the "pilot injection" thing. Sounds like one injector is deliverying one, large shot of fuel and that cylinder is quite noisy.

It does this only between 800-1200 rpm's. , expecially, when you let out the clutch in first gear. I can duplicate the symptom almost at will.

I just got the truck back from 4 days at the dealer. They, aparently, have to perform tests according to DC's instructions and if the symptom does not occur, everything's fine according to DC. I got the truck to make the sound for the service mgr. , twice. So, he believes me but, it will not do it under testing conditions prescribed by DC.

I believe my only recourse, now, is to call DC and file a complaint. The dealer has been very cooperative but, only DC can release injectors.

If I find anything out, I'll let you know.

Mine has been getting steadily louder too. I believe its the injectors. I have had it at the dealership twice so far. They say then can hear a slight knock at idle but the pressure test for the injectors is good. There is something definitely wrong. Its sounds like a quieter 2 gen more and more each day.

I was sitting at 35,600 miles so I took mine in, too. They drove it 38 miles with the tester hooked up - everything was within "normal" parameters.

I found out after the fact that they did the TSB for fuel mileage on my truck - I thought that was only for the 4½'s and up??

I guess we'll have to see.

Biggest thread about this.

Excellent thread with sound!

For the record, my truck did the knocking (as I describe in those threads) for something like 25k miles. It would get really really bad over a period of about 2 months, then disappear completely. Finally, it disappeared and has not returned in probably 15k miles. [knock on wood... cross fingers and toes].

I recently installed a 2-micron filter arrangement between the stock filter and the CP-3. Time will tell if this helps at all.

Mine will do it occasionally, but my truck's noise levels vary according to where I buy fuel. Seems like this one Chevron station repeatedly makes my truck louder. Don't really get it, but I stopped buying fuel there after the third time. It was really noticeable in cold weather, or right after start-up. It would also do it at light throttle settings, regardless of rpm.

I use Stanadyne Performance formula in every tank.

Well last night after reading some of the other threads on the issue I started my truck up and felt each injector line and seems like they all are very smooth except the first one and there is a definite knock to the line and a slight buzz/vibration. I dont know if that is normal but the rest of them are not doing it. I called the dealer I bought the truck from explained the situation and asked if he could run a check or test them and his reply was "boy I dont think so you'll just have to bring it down and let us listen to it". I called the local dealer explained and asked about a possible test and he said they could hook it up to the DRB and check it out? I take it in next Wed to find out results.

That is completely normal. The probable reason is the fact that the #1 injector line spans a relatively long distance with no hold down clamps. It is also the longest of all the injector lines. It is not a problem.
