I was experiencing the typical "hunting" transmission syndrome, with erratic, low-load downshifts/upshifts between 3rd and 4th gears.
I removed, cleaned with contact cleaner/compressed air, and reinstalled my TPS. The TPS was filled with black gunk, which I carefully flushed away...
Went out for a test-drive and discovered that the shifts are much firmer, now, and the "hunting" (3rd/4th) is gone, but, unfortunately, so is lock-up unless I use my "mystery switch".
I have never had trouble getting lock-up before (always happened about 48 mph), so I'm wondering if I could've reinstalled the TPS wrong, but can't imagine how.
Anybody experienced something similar, or have any advice?
Thanks
