Can I safely spray Simple Green on the engine etc. and spray it off with water?? 2004. 5 model.

The Cummins shop did it, with high pressure, to my 1992 and 1998 w. o any problems but this one seems to have many more electrical connections etc,

Alternative ideas welcomed. Thanks... ... ... Jack

I've used a variety of cleaners with good results but like DP wrote, stay away from the higher presure spray. The low presure spray at a car wash is ok but dont spray it directly into connectors.

Check your local "Dollar" store for an all-purpose cleaning product called "Awesome" the stuff works wonders on just about anything!

I use some stuff called S100. Been using it on my motorcycles for years. Spray it on a cold engine and hose it off. Makes the engine and compartment sparkle. I get it at my motorcycle dealer.

I hit mine with Simple Green and a garden hose about 4 times a year. By keeping ahead of the grease there's no need to go with something stronger (like Gunk). I don't even cover anything, and I'm not very careful with the hose. I do try to avoid the alternator.

Most importantly, I let the engine cool overnight before washing. After washing, I don't start it for about 24 hours... just to be sure. No problems so far.
