Couldn't find a good answer on a search so will ask it here. Have oil build up on the radiator. Can I use gunk degreaser to remove the oil build up with out damaging the radiator or is there a special solvent to use.

Thanks

Try Cascade in very hot water. The dish washing soap is an awesome crud cutter. I use it yearly to clean the condenser also.

Hose adapter

It helps alot if you can find one of the hose adapters that have a long wand and a spray tip. Bend the tip to as close to a right angle as you can. If you can keep the bent end or tip to less than an inch or so, then you can use the wand to get beween the condenser and the radiator and spray at right angles to the radiator. This is the most effective way to clean out the fins without bending the fins from the water spray.

I made a wand out of a length of 1/4" copper tube and crimped the end to make a spray pattern.

Any good degreaser or Simple Green or other strong detergent will work, just rinse thoroughly.

Hope this helps Greg L. The Noise Nazi

Just dilute as much Cascade as possible in very hoy water. I use an air nozzle with a pickup tube siphoning out of a gallon jug!

I just pulled the radiator out. Doesn't take long and then you don't miss anything. You do loose your coolant but I do this yearly and consider it my antifreeze maintenance as well.

Did you guys notice scale & buildup on the tubes of the radiator? Last time I did it I was shocked it had so much.

I have changed and flushed my coolant 3 times since new. About every 40K miles. Used Fleetguard coolant and distilled water.
