Clear dash cover cleaning

What is the best way to clean the dashboard clear plastic gage/speedo lenses? My past experiences has always led to scratching the clear plastic. With my new truck I would like to prevent this and the dust is beginning to build. Any suggestions?

The Pledge that is used in the house for dusting works great. I use it on my glasses w/plastic lenses

I use "Plexus" plastic cleaner, works great, smells good too!!

I gently vacuum the dust first and then clean it.

I've always just dabbed clear plastic with a damp cloth. No rubbing. But, then again, I'm only going for the big dirt and not trying to "detail" it.

Plastic Polish

When fine scratches build up on my instrument cluster lens cover I hit it with some plastic polish every couple years that I picked up at a windshield shop. Works awesome on taillights too, brings back the lustre that is lost to the intense sun here.

My last truck had some bozo musta cleaned it with Acetone or something as you couldnt hardly see through it. When I found out a new one was $100 it became time for experiments. The thing that worked great was polishing compound for automotive paint, not rubbing compound. It came as clear as a new one.

Use a Swiffer cloth

Get yourself a couple of Swiffer cloths from the little lady, or one of her friends. Put them in a plastic bag in your cab. Then when the dust starts to annoy you, just pull one out and dust everything.



Those little white cloths are super soft and act like a dust magnet. You will be using them for all your interior detailing, like me probably.



I would only caution you against using a dirty one on the plastic lenses. Best to use clean ones there, rather than let the collected dirt particles scratch a lense.
