Washer/Dryer Install Question

I'm installing clearance lamps on my truck. I got them from All-Pro auto parts and it comes with the lamps only. Not a problem because I'll make my own wiring harness. I just need to know where to hook the power wire to.

The third gen's have a plug that the factory uses behind the passenger side a pillar. Your 97 may have something similar.

Scott...

Could you do a little better job describing the location of this plug... . and where it is... Under the truck???

No, not under the truck, behind the passenger side a pillar. Pop out the two plastic plugs on either side of the grab handle, remove the bolts (10mm deep socket) and pop the pillar off. The plug is right there about half way up the windshield. This may not be the case on the second gen's though.

So is this for the cab clearance lamps... . not the side clearance lights... . not what I'm looking for. . but thanks Scott. .

Are you using OEM lenses, or just some universal cab lights? I had some universal cab lights on my first gen, and promised never to do that again. . they leaked, no matter how good I siliconed them. On my 98. 4, I got some lights from the 2001+ models, and they look SHARP! I would recommend doing that, if you are going to install them. Also, if you didnt know, when you remove the headliner, the holes are already pre-drilled in the lower sheetmetal part of the roof. PM me if you have any questions. I would be glad to help you out!

These are OEM lights. They are made by Peterson Manufacturing, part # V120A. You can pick them up at All Pro Auto Parts. It cost me $23. 00. I made my own wiring harness. I just don't know where to plug it in to the fuse box.

Clearance lamps are on the roof. Where are you putting them. The wire that is in the piller is already connected to the fuse box. Why not use that? Are you putting the lights under the truck for some reason? i don't understand what you may be calling clearance lights. .

Yes, they are cab clearance lights. There was not a wire in the a-pillar to hook them on to. The wire in the pillar was just a power plug. For what reason I don't know. I ran the harness down the pillar and hooked it into the park lamp wire coming out of the fuse box. They look great.
