For some unknown reason, the paint on the top of my cab is looking bad (rare, I know) and needs to be repainted. I would like to install clearance lights on the cab before I paint it. I have been looking on the Web for LED lights to use. I am looking for something square, maybe 1 1/2 or 2 inches square. Does anyone know where I can find them? I have made many searches and found universal lights, but none that were square like I mentioned before. I don't have clearance lights now.

TIA

I also want to add the cab lights, but I also need to have the cab re-painted. Dont know which to do first. If I get it painted first then I know there is a good base under the lights. .

When I do install the cab lights. . I want the stock dealer item. .

Rick

get the factory cab lights, and put 194 LED Replacement bulbs in there. . I run red bulbs in there, and it makes it look like a little trashy bullwagon at night! :-laf :-laf It really depends on where you live... in some towns I go through, I get stopped and they ask why I run red lights in there... I tell them they are DARK WATERMELON lenses!! :D Just like what they sell for all the 379's with the same color, and how it must be legal in some way or another! :-{} Well, that's my $. 02 worth!!

I have true LED style cab lights on my 96'. As you know, many do not really make them. I have only found one Manufacturer that does. I got them from Parts Systems .

They have done well for me. I have a set of five (extra) brand new in the plastic if interested.

Kev

Just last night on e-bay searched under "dodge ram", someone selling clearance light kit OEM, newer style. Not sure how much longer.

DKEVDOG,

I am interested. How do they mount? Do they come with a gasket? Did you buy the little pigtail wiring harness or did you fab your own? Did you already have clearance lights (I don't)? With sixteen LED's, they must be bright. Let me know.

TIA,

Ronco

The Key advantages of LED lighting (aside from being the cool, newest thing) is that LED lighting consumes about 1/50 the amount of electricity than conventional lighting. It also lasts for 100,000 hours or more- the equivilent of nearly 12 years of constant use. They also are less prone to failure from shock and impact. As far as not being bright?? Ever been behind a new transit bus with the large 7" LED STT lights? There are at least 60 ultra high intensity diodes in there aren they are brighter than standard bulbs.

And Chris... . Each to his own  .

Ronco, I'll email about the details of the lights.

RHARVEY,

The next time you are behind a late model Cadillac, look at the blinkers when they come on. They seem to snap on and snap off, very fast. LED's are some of the most recognizable lights going right now and like Kevin said, they require very little power (smaller wiring, less altenator stress, smaller switches without relays... ... ... ). Look around and you will see them in stop lights also. Very reliable in my humble opinion.

I know that the truck looks a lot better with them on. A fellow tdr brother put mine on for me. Toughest part is watching that drill go in the new cab.

Try your local Honda shop they have some neat Led lights

If you remove the headliner, the holes are already there on spacing them evenly..... the only part you should do from the top down, is with the holesaw bit; as I learned... ... that metal gets a little warm, and its not the best thing to have falling on your arms!

The motorcycle shop here has some carbonfiber side lights that would make killer Cab lights. Thought about changing mine from stock. Just a small bull huler:cool:

charlan, so a truck that didn't come with cab lights already has a template inside so no need to try to figure out where to place them from the outside? I am thinking I might like to add cab lights. Is there a pigtail in the wiring harness for the lights or do you just have to splice it in?

Thanks,

Mark
