Clearing codes without a programmer

I tried doing the egr delete with no success because the truck went into limp mode. I put everything back to stock, no check engine lights or anything like that but when i check for codes by flipping the key I still get several appear. How can I clear them to see if they are still active codes or just from before?

Go get a cheap code reader from harbor freight should work fine

If you just want them gone swing into auto zone or somewhere similiar and they will erase them for you.

Auto Zone in Calif no longer does that they said it was a Ins. thing why they stopped .

most cheaper code readers/clearers wont clear hard codes/limp codes only soft codes that are less detramental (sp?) to the engine/powertrain.

Jumped in the truck today and no codes. Two weeks and now gone. Who knows, I guess the computer has to have so many starts with no problems to clear itself.
