Generally, how long does it take for engine codes to clear?

Have a few from a box that have been on there awhile. I have not had the check light on since.

Thanks.

At least they aren't scary when the check engine light isn't on.

The DTT smart contoller on my truck generates two codes that are always there, no check engine light, but they are always there with the 3 key-cycle trick. Now I ignore those two, and only focus on the latest check engine light code (it's always p0336 crank postition sensor). Both Banks 6-gun and TST periodically thow that particular code.

Are your codes crank sensor/ cam sensor related??

My truck will be fine for weeks or months then throw that 336 code, seems worse in the cold, but again I'm to the point that I shrug my shoulders and go about my business.

You can take it to Autozone and they can clear the codes for you right away.

Otherwise, I think it takes 50 or so true cycles to clear the code.

It is 40 key cycles or pull the battery cables for about 15 min. coobie :)

ECAPPLEMAN,

I believe coobie is correct about 40 cycles, at least mine cleared. As far as no check engine light on only means no "hard fault" codes at this time. But there are still "soft fault" codes in history until cleared. I thought some scanners bought at like auto zone or Kragen's can clear codes also?

I have an inexpensive Innovation 3100 OBDII scanner that will read and clear any OBDII generic codes. That covers most codes that are set. The BD Triple Dog also clears most codes set.

I don't know if the Autozones will still clear codes for free or not, saw where they had stopped do to liability issues.

ECappleman call me and come by the office one day and I will clear them for you.

I have a 05,3500 and just installed the Edge Juice. I initially received 3 codes which were P0113,P0069 and P0237. The MIL light was on for about a day and then cleared however the codes are still there when doing the 3 time ignition thing. I removed the battery cables over night and that had no effect. Have ordered the scanner from Harbor Freight to clear the codes.
