Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Click, click and then it starts

Solenoid clicks like the battery terminals need cleaned, which I did and it didn't help. It will usually click once or twice and then start, but the confusing thing is that sometimes when I turn the key back after it clicks it will click again after a little movement backwards of the key.



Any one have any thoughts on this? The batteries are 6 years old, could there be an internal problem with a battery doing it?

Six year old batteries can be an issue for sure. Also, and more likely is the starter contacts. You can replace them yourself with a kit from Larry B's or Geno's.

Larry B`s starter contact rock get the alternator rebuild kit as well

Sounds like starter contacts - Been there and done that (replaced contacts)!! My truck is a 98. 5 and I replaced contacts last summer - Got em from Genos
