This is a good one, lately when I turn the wheel when at a stand still I hear this clicking noise. I check out all the obvious front-end components Track Bar, steering stabilizer and all nuts and bolts etc... Where I believe it is coming from is the steering box if I hold my hand on it (with someone else turning the wheel while the truck is running) you can feel a strong click when turned right or left just one click each way. Has anybody had this problem? I don’t want to replace the steering box if I don’t have to.

steering box click

When I have my truck off and I grab the steering shaft and turn it back and forth it will make a clicking noise from the box. My box is loose and I have been unable to adjust the play out. There must be something worn in mine at least.

I have the same symptom It seems worse when cold. I did tighten my box a little it was loose. while that improved steering overall the click is still there! I have determined its in the area behind all that stuff that makes up the steering wheel horn air bag etc. . like a bearing?? I hate this click and the dealer I use had no clue!! any one else have a cure for this annoying click. I am inclined to replace that steering sector from the fire wall to the box? :) Thanks for any input guys Patrick

This sounds like what some of the guys described in combination with steering wander. The solution was an after market steering shaft. Red River (or something like that) and Borgeson were the two products discussed.
