I have been through the pinch weld deal already and found the fix. I have a click tic sound coming from the stering wheel air bag area. I have had the dealer check the clock spring ect. but no fix. anyone have this and figure it out?? I t seems like it happens occaisionally and especially when cooler in cab. thanks

I have the same thing going on, I will be pulling my steering shaft out to find out for sure where the thing is wore out at. Actually Sunday I am doing this, decided not to travel anywhere this weekend. I will let you know what I found. Later Jim.

Before you pull the column- lube the coil spring that is near the end of the shaft/just beyond the firewall. Mine does this now and then, especially when cool outside.

Thanks for the help, this has been annoying especially since I found the pinch weld body creek that No one else could find. I lubed the colum at the fire wall and spring. I just cant seen to find this little click source. It is sporatic and seems like its from within the colum. Shouldnt have with 45,000 easy miles. Let me know what you find.

No problem

I thought there is a Service Bulletin on this. If the sound is up high near the steering wheel it may be the cable reel or clock spring as Dodge calls it. Its the part that connect the SRS airbag & cruise control functions.

I have a very similar noise, but mine can be simulated when I try to apply side to side pressure ( holding hands at 3and 9)on the steering wheel. I will get one small pop then nothing ,can't really feel any play in the upper bearing, but if I apply pressure at 12 and 6 I get that pop again but only once until I apply pressure back at 3and 9. its driving me nuts any takes?

Grab Ahold of the slip joint and move that, I have replaced 4 of these in customers trucks. Seems to be where it wears out. Later Jim.

SJ are you talking about the intermediate shaft,, if you are I already had it replaced twice under warranty , they all have play even the new ones you would think that it should have a nice fit, but they just don't.

wlowe I installed one of those bushings, still have that noise? :(
