I have a Clicking noise that follows the speed of the wheel, I turned the engine off and put it in neutral and it still makes the clicking noise, So i know its not the engine. It's only noticeable at lower speeds such as approaching stops. The funny thing is , is that when I'm traveling slow and I hear the noise I engaged the 4 wheel drive and the noise goes away. When i re-engage it then the sound takes a minute to return. At high speeds I don't notice the clicking sound, it doesn't interfere with my steering at all either. It has been goin on for 2 months now and has only worsened very minimal. not sure if this is related but I have noticed only twice that I heared a large jump or clunk sound after I did the 4WD test. It was about 30 seconds after too.

It's a daily driver.

Are these a
Pain to change? How do I go about seeing if that is what it is? Is there a quick test? How much do they cost? Can i do it? I have all the tools and am mechanically inclined! Thanks for everyone's input

78,000 exactly as unread this comin of an off ramp. Haha. I saw on YouTube there's a good video on joint removal for a dodge 1500. Also, realfixesrealfast has good videos on easier hub removal without all the bangin and pryin

Hmm, you making me nervous Nick ~ my truck just turned over 78k too. .
So can you hear it with the windows up?

My u-joint (driver's side) went out at about 60k, progressively got worse until it was a clunk as I slowed to a stop.

From Dodge the inner, outer, and joint all come together. The replacement process wasn't too bad, I don't remember too much banging or prying.

It's not the banging and prying that gets me, it's the blood and crying. :(

Prairie dog- I can hear it with the windows up. That's the best way to hear it. It has progressively gotten worse. But still i feel I could drive a lot longer with it with way.

I guess I should have known that. Why would anybody be driving around here with the windows down this time of year? :)
