I have a funny low squeek in my dash when I go over bumps. I was told there was a TSB about it, so I went to Fritz's and looked around. The only thing I could find that made any reference to such a problem was the "Clock Spring" TSB.

Is that the one?

What in the heck do I do to fix it?

Hi Chris,

I thought I remembered a TSB that had something about cracking where the door hinge goes to the body for some earlier trucks, but I cannot find it now. This link might help some http://dodgeram.info/tsb/group_23.htm.

I can't see any TSB's that involve model year 2002 clock springs connected to squeeks in the dash and I would be surprised if there were any. Clock spring problems are usually revealed by clicking noises in the steering wheel area when turning or failure of some system, due to broken conductors in the clock spring.

Safety Recall 982 involves clock springs, but for Rams earlier than your 2002. A look at it should give you some idea of where the clock spring is and what is involved in its service.

Not every rattle or squeek will be covered by a TSB. From your description, I suspect that's the case with your squeek.

Good luck!

squeak in the dash... . it'll drive you NUTS looking for it! I had it, got rid of it. Denis has it, can't get rid of it. My Grandfather's '02 has it, but he could care less.

Mine was the small plastic "screw" things that hold the plastic piece on just behind the hood, where the AC sucks it's air from. They come loose and the plastic piece then rubs on teh window (mine was obvious where it was rubbing) and causes that annoying squeaking... I have to tighten mine about once a month to keep it quiet.

The clockspring only makes one noise... . CRACK!

Then the warning lights come on for the air bag. The radio controls and cruse control quit too. No squeek going over bumps.
