does anybody know how long it takes the dealer to replace the clock spring?? I just busted mine on the way to the local watering hole. . Gonna take it tomorrow. Was just wondering if it was an all week deal?

If the dealer has the right one in stock it takes about an hour. Depending upon what options you have there are 3 different ones.

I drove mine for a couple of weeks after the clockspring took a dump and had no problems other than got real tired of looking at the airbag warning light.

I was on the road when mine let go. Drove it for about 2 weeks, no problem. Called for an appointment, dealer had to order part but fixed in 45 min.

Call ahead and make sure the dealer has the part before you take the truck in, seems to be a shortage on the repair parts . I had two replaced, one broke while I was in a parking lot and jammed the steering. Scared me alittle, had the truck towed in. They tried to tell me that my truck was the only one that has had that problem. The one that broke was the first replacement.

Find some more info at http://dodgeram.org/tech/tsb/recalls/982.htm

Note that this was a NHTSA Safety Recall on the 2001's, and also applies to some other years if a replacement part that has the problem has been used in previous service on your truck.

This means many of you can have this done FREE. The dealers have done a lot of them, so their mechanics have gotten really fast at this one.

Less than an hour. Most of the dummys should be really good at by now. On mine they bypassed the wire routing, looks like crap. I guess the cover is supposed to hide it. 5 * dealers. They don't even dare to send me the service ratings questionare anymore.

Takes less than an hour to do. Make sure to call their parts department and get the right one of the three are on hand and have them hold in you name for your reserved appointment to fix. That way it will be there and ready for you and you will not get the excuse we sold the last one and have to order more.

My first one was doing fine, decided to go ahead with the replacement as it was one of the few items that I didn't void the warranty on. The replacement lasted 6 days, then snapped. The second replacement has been doing fine every since.
