Hey guys, a little help would be appreciated. .

I installed my HX40-16 today and was a little pressed for time before work. Anyway, the truck is leaking oil from the return fitting on the turbo and I think it's because the tube was forced (by me) into location. I was origionally going to clock the turbo but those 5 or 6 bolts are awful tight holding the compressor to the turbine. Question is - are these the only bolts I need to loosen to clock it or is there something else involved?

OIL LEAKS SUCK :(

thanks for the help, Nick

I assume you're saying the exhaust housing is causing the problem. If so, no, just loosen those 6 bolts and turn it.

On mine, I found the compressor housing was interfering with the oil line. It can be clocked too. Mine has a huge circular retainer made of spring steel with 2 tabs to squeeze to remove the housing. Piers said sqeeze those just enough to turn the housing but don't remove it. He said it can be a bear to put it back in. I couldn't get a good grip on the tabs with channel locks so I had to grind dimples in the tab with a dremel tool, then modify a small c-clamp (made points) to go into the dimples. That worked great.

thanks Jay, mine is as yours was, the compressor housing is causing the trouble. I'll try what you you suggested.

I have the feeling you just saved me a headache

thanks, Nick

The turbo is a nice addition to the truck. Im still working some bugs out, but but it has noticably more power now. I noticed it doesnt spool as quick as the 35-12 obviously but it's a comprimise Im OK with. Even without injectors the truck can fuel pretty hard and drivablility isnt an issue.

Of course Im driving with just the downpipe on now... . :-laf .

And apparently DD welds the wastegate actuater lever shut, so this weekends project will be to grind the weld off that and hook up my HX-35 wastegate actuator. If it isnt one thing it's another.
