Couple of quick questions:

1. Are the dealer advertising fees ($500) a point of negotiation? Since the truck is being ordered, it certainly didn't cost them to advertise it.

2. Can you delete the sliding rear window in the Laramie package by ordering the defroster? The Dodge web site does, but the dealer isn't sure.

JamesWilson

No... ... ... the advertising fees are a real cost that is put on all vehicles sold and is part of the real invoice, Simply put, it is the cost of national advertising of the product.

And Yes, the Sliding Rear Window is deleted when you get the rear defrost window option.

Thanks

James, I asked around the same question and was told the same thing. Basically you treat it as part of the cost of the truck. I know, I wasn't too happy about it either.

When I ordered my truck however, a $440 regional discount applied which almost cancelled out the national sales costs. You should check and see if you get any regional discounts.

ps Don't forget to order the fold flat storage shelf :p

Thanks for the replies, got the fold flat, too.

Was still trying to decide whether to get the 4. 10 axel since I'll be running 315/70/17's. FINALLY found and drove a 3500 HO 6 speed with 4. 10's yesterday. Sixth gear saw 1900 rpm's at 60 mph, not too bad. But fifth gear felt like it was screaming at anything over 45 mph. I'm not sure the 315 tires will overcome this disparity. Looks like I may go with the 3. 73, I can always run a smaller tire, less convienent to run one larger.

Kinda like the 1% origination fee on a mortgage loan, I don't think so!!

This nickle and dime stage of the negotiations is the most unpleasant part.

Mr. Dodgesales, Your answer doesn't surprise me. And by the way - Nice try

I was not asked to pay any advertising fee (theres nothing about it on my window sticker either) and the admin fee was $2. 50, yes I mean Two dollars and fifty cents!

I bought my truck at Dodge of Monroe in Washington State.

Couple of other quick points. I've been looking at 3500 SRW's and the base price has gone up about $500 since last fall, so a new order will have a higher initial price. Also, they've raised the destination charge from $740 to $795. That takes some of the benefit out of the current rebates.

Ordered mine yesterday and

the price went up 40$ while we negoitated the price. HMMM, double ckd the next print-out and the person had accidently added the Leather Wrapped steering wheel (no biggie we deleted it) by "fast" fingering the order. Was an honest mistake, but double ck the last one before it gets sent to DC. My person always adds this as most persons here want it. Just a "slip-up" and no harm done. Auge's is my dealer and servicing place (for major work). No word yet on Sandia Showdown... . maybe in the next few months or they may just be "quiet" until its in the TDR Mag. (usually let me know tho).

Now to update my sig...

Mr Dog,

The ADV. cost are Incorporated into the MSRP Window sticker pricing, (They do not show) they are on the dealer cost invoice. (Not the MSRP Window sticker) and you paid them if you purchased a new truck. The only time you see them is if you have access to the INVOICE Pricing.

I do not know what you were trying to imply by "nice try" or "doesn't surprise me". I was just giving someone an answer to their question, which I answered 100% correctly.

I understand sometimes too much information can be confusing to some.

I have been selling trucks to TDR Members for sometime now and I only give well informed information, and I deal from dealer invoice NOT MSRP.

One last note if you did not know the true cost of your truck (Before) you bought, YOU may have paid too much!

Admin fee? Never herd of it.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me, I will truly try to help You and all members of the TDR. :)

Thanks

Hi Dodge Sales

Maybee you can answer a question for me as my local dealer doesn't have a clue:mad: . Dodge is supposed to change engines in jan of 04. Does that mean if I order a 04 that is built before Jan. of 04 that I will get a engine without the dreaded EGR or similar anti-smog device.

Thank in advance!!!!

Mitch

"Mr. Dog"? :-laf . "Confused"? :-laf :-laf (OK, I have to admit that was a nice shot)

It seems James was able to see the $500 crapola easy enough.

I asked my dealer about this and he said that while many Dodge dealers do this, they, being in a farming community , could not get away with it.

As for the other things I said, I think I was clear enough (or maybe YOUR confused?).

The only thing I could add would be :p :p :p

Now quit :{ and go sell someone some undercoating or something.

We are still talking about the advertising Right?

Seems to me that your dealer is the one that is confusing.

or maybe I'll give him the benefit of just not knowing what he is talking about.

As I stated in the first post
JamesWilson

What does a Farming community have to do with it? I also am in a farming community, in fact cows border the back of our dealership, but that does not change the cost of a vehicle, read my last post and see where the advertising costs are. Again they are real cost that you and myself pay, and are not ADDED to the MSRP, at least not here at my dealership (We can't get away with it we are a farming community) Sorry I just could not resist taking that shot. :p :p

And I do not sell undercoating, nor paint sealant, or any other fluff that artificially inflates the invoice. (some do)

Get over it! :D Some of us are honest people trying to help and not trying to confuse others.

If you want true honest answers to your questions just ask me, I will try to answer them if I can. I will say "I do not know" if I do not know the answer. But I will not BS you.

j. mitchell

I am checking to see if I can get any credible response from the district manager on this issue of engine change, DC is very tight lipped about comming changes due to wanting to sell what they have now, seems Dealer Sales are the last to know. As an example when the 03 models were first rumored to be, I got alot of information from TDR, sad but true.

"Get over it"? Hmm, Seems like I struck a nerve. Or maybe you got to work today and realized your shiny new white belt doesn't match your shiny white shoes as well as you thought and it's ruined your whole day.

Oh well, It's nice to know we have the only honest and knowledgeable dealer setting us straight here on TDR.

Here's the point in case any body has lost it: If you see a separate add on item for advertising, it's been added by a dealer. My dealer does not do this and the invoice was the same as the one I came up with when I built a truck on-line through Dodge.

George, Not meaning to make you  , just having a little fun.

Good luck

Scotty

Hey Scotty

Having a little fun is what it is all about!:D

BUT making fun of my white shoes and belt now thats another matter altogether:-{}

LOL

Have any kind of day you wish for.

Good luck with your new truck, you are going to love it!

George

Also I was going to add that it's nice to have a dealer around that knows at least as much about trucks as his customers do, thats a very rare thing around here. By the way I think were supposed to be working rite now?

Scotty

The reason you do not see the advertising cost on the MSRP is because it is built into the cost and shows up only on the invoice that the dealer pays for the truck.

Thats my point.

you paid it and I paid it.

just a little more clarification!

And I am not  Just having a little fun again.
