What goes clunk when shifting automatic to reverse or from reverse to drive? Is it normal. I have to open the door and lean out a bit to hear it.

It could be a worn out U-Joint. When my U-Joints start to go bad I usually hear a clunk.

It could be the slip yoke in the driveshaft,or the rearend. Good luck.
