well im baffled... for awhile ive had a clunking noise in my NV5600 at idle in neutral... thought it was DD clutch but got worse. then it started making noises when shifting, like a hard bang/clunk like ALOT of slop in the drivetrain, then it got to the point where when i hit a bump on the road, the shock to the drivetrain would clunk and i could even feel it thru the shifter. I also have a "bearing" whine (sounds like bearing full of mud) when slowing down between 25-15mph.
I've checked carrier bearing, all u-joints, had the NV5600 inspected by a transmission builder, tore my t-case down to to the bare case and rebuilt... nothing out of the ordinary that would cause these noises. I have pulled the cover and checked the rear, seemed to have some play but nothing more than your normal backlash, and pinion bearings were not loose.
any other suggestions, or anyone ever chased a problem like this and found it to be a part that looked/felt alright but turned out to be bad?
