I was asked by a few of you to post pictures of the disc and pilot bearing changes we made in my 04 and what we do for local customers... .

My 04 now has over 100K and we were having a problem with vibration under acceleration..... this truck pulls a heavy trailer 80% of the time... . (trailer weight up to 20K)

We tore it down and took apart the clutch disc after we discoved it had failed and almost took out the pilot bearing and input shaft.....

We could move the hub of the disc about 3/16" from side to side. . this failure would allow the disc to be miss aligned when the cover clamped it up... . this miss alignment would create a vibration... (out of balance)..... and would in a short time cause pilot bearing failure and input shaft front bearing failure... .

We have taken apart the disc and used a pen to point on the wear items... . there should be NO side to side movement of the hub in the disc... . note that the springs and other parts of the disc were in good condition for 100K on the clock... .

The next photo is of the HD disc we use... this disc is designed for a 14" Spicer application... we've changed the hub... . and carrier plate (part that holds the friction)..... since the friction on my old disc has 20% wear, that's right 80% was left at 100K we choose to use a upgraded friction and new pressure plate designed for an upgrade of 80HP..... The new cover has about 25% more clamping load.....

We need a clutch that we can depend on. . with the upgrade of the pilot bearing in another thread we think this package will run 150K or more... .

If you have any questions let me know... .
