Due to the updated programing causing the throttle to surge when in regen caught up to me. When towing 22K GCVW up Chiriaco pass, the truck went into regen, and while in 5th gear accelerating I hit the 2K RPM threshold and the engine surged, as indicated by my RPM's, but as physics are, that load isn't going to move that fast and the clutch slipped instead. This last weekend I was towing a trailer at about 14K GCVW and it did the same thing. So now I have to replace the clutch, I believe it will need a clutch that can handle the torque involved when the ECM programing causes the engine to surge on occasion, and as I found out the hard way when it surges with a heavy load up a steep grade.

So the question is, which clutch will work better in this environment? I don't want a grabby clutch but if that is what I'm stuck with, so be it. I will be replacing the DMF with a solid flywheel, now that the clutch is worn out. The DMF is not the problem, but is the awful program from Dodge that was updated in 2009. I figure the extra torque involved would be the same as a truck chipped for 1000 foot pounds so that would be a good starting number looking into a clutch setup.

If you are under 425 Rear wheel HP then the new Southbend all organic, single plate clutch would be my choice. I put the CON-OFE in my '07, 5. 9 and it is a little too sensitive for me but it holds.
