Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Truck wont stay running

Since new, my SBC Con FE has never fully disengaged from the flywheel. With your foot on the floor and selecting a gear, you can feel the truck move a little bit. The new adjustable hydraulic kit didn't help. It's not terrible, just gets annoying at times.

Anyways, the clutch doesn't engage until the very top of the pedal and doesn't disengage fully at the bottom of the pedal travel. The clutch doesn't slip at all either. What do these characteristics indicate?

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

How long have you had yours in the truck? I had the OFE installed Monday this week, mine is quirky also. Kinda the opposite though, 1st and reverse can be a little hard to get into at times and mine engages almost right off the floor. One thing I did notice is after I have it in 1st if I pull the shifter down just a little about a 1/2" I can hear the gears in the transmission rubbing against each otherif I push the shifter back up the truck seems to creep a llittle. Seems that the pressure plate does not fully disengage, maybe thats normal not sure. The pedal is about 2" off the floor when it grabs the original clutch didn't grab until the pedal was almost at the top. I installed a new master and slave cylinder before the install so everything is new. My installer test drove the truck after they were done and they have done alot of Southbends, they said all was fine. I am waiting to see if a few miles helps get everything seated and broke in before I get too concerned. One thing about it, when it grabs it really grabs.

I'm having a similar problem with a Con OFE in a 2005 with a G56. When you put it in gear (if it will go in gear) with the pedal all the way to the floor, the truck will move foward a little and sometimes crawl. It did this with the stock hydrolics and 2 sets of updated hydrolics. it has about 1500 miles on it and it still does it. It's driving me nuts.

I dont know if this will help any but I talked with Peter yesterday and talked to him about it and I had a new clutch at the shop today. The disc looked completely differant so I called him again to make sure it was the right one. He said it was redisigned. Anyway truck now shifts and drives like it is supposed to. The customer support at southbend is the best i have ever seen. :D
