Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Clutch fan on 97

I bought a new clutch fan, because my other one was leaking pretty bad.I bought it from a mopar dealer in California.When I open the box , to check it out ,I notice that a small part of the fins were machined off.Is this to balance it or do you guys think it needs to go back. I called them and they said it should work fine.

I've replaced my fan clutch several times with both after market and OEM. I've never seen anything like that. I'd send it back.

Take it back! That thing could cause a bad vibration!
Genos has the Mopar fan clutch! Check your catalog and see if you can get it to your cheaper thru them. You mite even try a Cummins dealer if there is on close by.

I'm looking at the photo of the clutch in the catalog don't know it's the way the photo was taken but it looks like it is missing a few fins.
There are two photos one page 14 and a better photo on page 15.

My guess its a update the machine work looks even id say run it the dealer is correct it will work fine

So their going to send me a replacement, they decided it was a machining defect.:{ Will see if the replacement turns out to be ok.
