Need some help, my through out bearing is going out on my 95 TCD 5sp. I have 210k and figure if I have to drop the trany to do the bearing I might as well go ahead and put a new clutch in. What clutch should I get? SB or Centerforce? I have heard a lot of good things about SouthBend just from reading. Need some advice from you all. My plan's for the truck are to get up to around 300-350HP after the new clutch. I don't pull much but when I do its either a tractor or 4wheeler's. This is my daily driver. Also to get to the HP I want what is a good plate # to get. I am going to put in a 3gsk later but need to know what works good together. What ever you guys come up with I need it to work with the Turbo and Injectors. Don't wan to have to change those also.

Horsepower gets more expensive exponentially. To get 250, all you need is a torque plate. For 300, clutch and exhaust housing too. For 350, a premium clutch, turbo, and . . .



You can get about 280-290 hp with a #4 TST plate. You should get a 16 cm2 housing for the turbo. For more power, add injectors. The 370 marines add the most power per $ (about 70 hp) but are rich at an idle and cost some mpg in town.



For your stated goal, you better bypass the medium power clutches like Luk Gold and Centerforce. South Bend can discuss options with you, but be prepared to spend some $ if you really want to go to that power level. Also if you go much higher than that, you may begin to sacrifice just a bit of smoothness and driveability, depending on which clutch you get. I find the Con-fe to be extremely driveable and very nice in the smoothness category, especially for the power it holds. Some very picky folks might complain about the slight loss of smoothness. This clutch does eventually take hold, instead of the stocker that just eventually quits slipping as you engage it. Hard to explain better than that. . .
 
I had a Centerforce, pedal pressure was pretty stout and it didn't last very long. I'd most definately do the fully splined shaft on the 5th gear while it was out.
 
Joseph, you opened my eyes. I am just learning about these TCD.

With me wanting to buy other toy's than one's for this truck. What would be a good Fuel plate to get so that I can stay with every thing else stock and what can I expect? I will look into the SB clutch and the 5th gear nut. Thanks all for the help.

I have the #4 installed in my truck and the stock clutch is still holding. I tow about 8k with it about twice a month and while I don't abuse the truck or clutch I don't cut it any slack either. The cool thing about plates are that they are adjustable in how they mount in the pump, so if you get the #4 and it's too much for your clutch then just slide the plate back some and that will cut back on power to save the clutch.



Mine has the 4k GSK and will get hot at higher rpm, around 2500 on up, but the stock turbo housing is ok for me at sea level and anything less than full throttle. With the stock governor springs I did not have *any* EGT issues (I also had a top speed of 82mph, but that's another story).



Take a look at my sig for all my toys and I'd say that I'm about 280-290hp and somewhere near 700ftlb tq.
