Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Clutch install D/FW area & suggestions?

Anyone have a recommendation for a shop in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for a clutch install?



I'm also torn between options:

I'm think I'm going with a 13" upgrade w/ the new flywheel - either the Con OFE or the NMU70279-02-5SC from Valair (organic/feramic). Or, will I be just as well with the stock 12" and go with 0090 Con O type setup?

Towing is limited to a 3800# boat and want to get a 5er in the next year or two (26-28 footer).

I've going back-n-forth on either doing this myself or taking it somewhere. I'm getting quotes from $275. 00-$300. 00 from shops.



How long did it take you?

Did you use a bottle jack & 4x4 to spread the frame to remove the cross member?



I've never messed w/ a clutch before; however, that has not stopped me before - no problem changing a cam in a SBC or swapping motors.

The other concern is the time - the 'things to do list' just seems to be getting longer and shorter as time goes by...

can easily be done in a day. the cross member came right out with some wiggling. don't forget to have the flywheel reserficed. so alow for 2 days. the place we got clutch from did flywheel for free as long as we bought clutch from them. most places will only charge 20. 00

p. s i'm tight with my money and will do it myself if all possible, but then again i'm building a SR/SG drag car all tube chassis home built with ART MORRISON kit.

Its best to have the place you are buying the clutch , install the clutch, or to reccomend one of there authorized installation centers, otherwise if they have a problem they will blaim it on your part and want to charge you again if there is a problem. Valair i think is in the DFW area

I changed mine myself (95 4x4) It took about 4 hours to get it out and about the same to reinstall. I did have use of a transmission jack which really helped.

When you get the clutch out, just remember, this is a wonderfull time to change the rubber supply and return fuel lines.
