How much does your truck weigh?

Just started yesterday. Turned key, lights come on, did not start. I pressed the clutch a few times then started. I looked at the plug- in that comes off of the clutch pedal- it looked o. k. to me? I'm really in trouble with my financial advisor (wife) because my back wheels lockup on the right side so I was going to start to replace parts for that this weekend. I'm telling her how good my truck is but she isn't believing me. Rich

Check the clutch master cylinder push rod where it connects to the clutch pedal. If yours was like mine, the eye will be almost worn through and the only way to start the truck was to slam it hard to the floor. Now for the bad news the rod isn't sold separately, that I could find, and that means a new master cylinder. :(

Or you could bypass the interlock with a jumper wire. I did that with mine 9 years ago and have not tried to start it in gear once. Just remember to use your head before you turn the key.

I hate clutch interlocks and disabled mine right away. I just cut the 2 wires about 1. 5 in away from the switch and fastened the 2 wires together (not the 2 at the switch, the other side of the cut) and no more switch problems.

Steve or Deezul, I have two yellow wires(one with a black stripe) that connect to black wires that run to the switch. Do I connect the yellows together? Thanks for your responses! Rich

Dont know about colors, but there should be 2 wires going to the switch, cut them and twist them together after stripping them and see if that does it, just forget the wires hanging from the switch. After the cut, its the other side of the cut that does it. If there are more than 2 wires at the switch someone else will have to chime in here as mt 2nd gen only has 2.

I figured it out about 5 minutes after I posted. I told my wife now everyone reading this knows I'm a moron. I put a wire connector in the yellow side of the plug and made a quick U-turn. I didn't have to cut anything. It took a couple of minutes to do. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Probably saved me $500. by not doing it the "correct" way Thanks again. Rich
