When I depressed the clutch while driving I felt a slight pop, afterward the clutch engaged immediately off the floor. Clutch and transmission still functioning but petal travel quickly diminishes. When clutch is depressed by hand I can hear "airbubbles" in fluid. Do I need a master cylinder or a hole kit?I have a '99 5-speed.

I would start in the cab looking for leaks/loose linkage. You say the clutch engages right off the floor, do you have more free travel before the throwout bearing contacts the pressure plate? You may have a cracked clutch release fork (see 911 thread on 6spd clutch). That could account for the POP? hopefully nothing that serious! I doubt the master or slave cylinder are rebuildable; but I would check NAPA etc. for any needed replacements, should be cheaper that DC.
 
Clutch Master and Slave are dealer only parts #@$%! .

Yes, they are also sealed non-servicable parts. I believe the unit costs around $150 but that was for a 6-speed. Chances are the master is leaking at the top seal. Feel the top of the clutch pedal to see if there is any fluid.

Hopfully it is not the clutch release fork, though removing the 5 speed is not too much work, a master / slave is much easier.

I read somewhere on here that Peter at SBC now carries the hydraulic components. I paid around $250 from the local dealer for mine.

Peter at SBC does handle the slave and master cylinder kit (the exact same as the dealer sells) for about $100 or so delivered. Give him a call and he can get it right out to you.
