02 H. O. 6 speed 139K on the clock, just installed new Southbend clutch assy/flywheel with pilot bearing, throwout bearing. Made a trip to blue ridge (Boone N. C. ) pretty good pull (14K toyhauler). My question to anyone with this clutch combo is this: When towing do you notice a growle (from springs on pressplate disc). Old clutch had same noise but not as loud. I love the clutch ,good feel and grip. When driving truck empty, the noise is reduced to a type of ring sound when adding or reducing throttle. Thanks in advance for any comments

That is normal, and it was BAD the first 500-600 miles. But after a little towing and few WOT runs thru redline the clutch quieted down. Now it is still a little louder than stock, but only if I really lug it.

The noise you guys are hearing is not the clutch, it is the transmission. With the heavy duty torque springs in the clutch disk and low rpm harmonics of the Cummins, you get gear backlash at idle and a growl can be heard/felt, especially when the transmission oil warms up. If you lug it at low rpm, the transmission will also sound off, it's normal.
