On the way home this afternoon it became very difficult to shift gears even with the clutch pedal fully depressed. At one point I had to start the engine with transmission in gear and clutch depressed to move. After sitting at idle for a couple minutes everything worked normally. I was able to drive the mile or so on to home with no problem. No signs of leakage. Master cylinder is full and clean. I was supposed to start on a 800 mile trip this afternoon. Any ideas what is happening. Should I risk it?

It sounds like the pilot bearing is failing. If it is, it will just get worse until the input shaft becomes "one" with the flywheel.

I just replaced my master/slave cylinder assembly. The truck was fine and suddenly I found myself power braking it in my brothers driveway. It couldn't hold the clutch disengaged for more than 5 seconds! I want to take it apart and see what makes it tick. Is it feasable that a seal could have acted up and then somehow sealed back up? No noises or different pedal feel? By the way, the hydraulic part is rather easy to replace. It cost me 250. 00 however!
