Hey everyone, My dad has a 97 with a 5 speed and it is stock, the clutch is starting to slip whenever he tows anything, he does tow guite a bit and we use the truck to plow snow. The truck has 92,000 miles on this clutch which is the original one. The question is, should he just get another stock clutch or get a South Bend or something else? The truck will remain stock. Can you also tell me the approximate cost of a clutch for his truck?

Thanks,

Cory

Can't believe your asking this ...

Of course you should upgrade to a Southbend (Con-O). 1,000 ft/lb holding power with a kevlar throwout barring.

Just order the clutch from them and have who ever do the job (or do it your self if you can). Can't see much difference in price between a stock clutch and the Southbend (unless the dealer takes you on the price of a stock clutch).

My Con-O feels just like stock, and I don't have to worry about slipping the clutch anymore.

If you are going to replace the clutch check out all your options check Van Haisley , Enterprise Engine ,South Bend and there must be more that I don't know about. See witch has the best price and will take care of you the best.
