Anyone have a clutch replacement recommendation for a 98 ISB 5 speed with 300 rear wheel horse? The truck has 55,000 miles on it and pulls a 10,000 lb. trailer regularly. The factory clutch is not long for the world. Please advise.

Jeff, go to the Products forum and read this thread: "New Sachs clutch users:Help!!" Good info to help you make a decision.

I doubt the South Bend clutch will hold up to the power levels he has (300HP)... The D. R. E. Sachs will hold approximately 500HP and 1200 ft. lbs. of torque. It is an easy clutch to live with in a daily driver.
The McLeod Dual Disc will hold about 1500 ft/lbs. of torque.
Dave Mitchell at Enterprise Engine also offers a Mitchell-Modified that will hold 1900ft. /lbs. of torque, he has two versions, street or track.
Anybody serious about buying a clutch would do well to read Joe Donnelly's in-depth analysis of all the clutches available, both in these forums, and in issue 30 of the TDR. The only two people I'm aware of that have experimented this extensively with clutches, and have the mechanical experience to back it up, are Donnelly and Mitchell. There is no substitute for reading/searching these forums, the information is all there ! I was able to get enough information by doing so, to make a comfortable decision on which clutch to go with.

There are two options for us guys. McLeod dual disk and Joe D. 's modified Sachs. Both have good and bad. But these are the last word in hi-po hook ups. Don't settle for anything less, or any cheap imitaions. Email me if you want more information. Good luck! #ad
