Great article

I am about three days from getting a SB clutch and I can't decide between the OFE and the FE. With everything in my signature what clutch you all go with. I tow some but mostly is a daily driver.

Go with the most heavy duty that is practical. You are bound to do more HP upgrades and you dont want to get a clutch that is rated close to the HP you are now making. All else being equal go for the higher rated unit so you dont have to do it again.

If you want the BEST answer talk to the man that sells them!!

Peter @ SBC can tell you exactly what YOU need!

He spent about an hour on the phone with me, and I bought a clutch somewhere else I was just getting a resurfaced flywheel (that I need to send my core back:eek: ) THAT'S customer service!

P. S. I wish I bought a SBC!:{

More than likely will this summer!

Not knocking any of the guys on TDR or the TDR itself, but who's gonna know more about SBC's than the man who designs/sells them?:eek:

It's strong but be prepared for some grabbiness with the Con FE. As Peter advised the OFE would be better if you have to contend with stop and go driving.

One important thing to keep in mind when selecting your South Bend is that the clutch needs to be reasonably matched to your power level in order for it to seat properly. These clutches like to be driven, and need some aggression to get them working just right. The Con OFE is a great clutch, and should be installed on trucks that are in the 400 HP neighborhood. Personally, I think the FE is the best clutch that Peter makes, but you'd better have the power (which you do) to get it seated.
