I was at a stop sighn with clutch engaged, when it started taking off. I figured my slave cylinder for the clutch is going south. I also figured the warranty would cover such a failure. It was'nt the clutch disk that went out,but a component that is part of the clutch assembly. Well folks the fricken warranty was useless for this. they would not cover it.

My question has anyone else suffered this and have warranty coverage. mind you my truck has 71,000 on it with the 100,000 mile extended warranty.

thanks

Shoot, you are lucky. My master cylinder went out at 27,000 miles - two days after the three year warranty expired. Replacement was a pain, not to mention $200. 00 for the linkage.

You can buy just the slave cylinder from an auto parts store for pretty cheap. This is how you do it:

First you take the two retaining bolts that hold the slave cyl to the bellhousing.

Take the new slave cyl and pour brake fluid into the orifice and fill it up. Work the slave a bit to get the air out.

Making sure you mater cyl is topped off, remove the roll pin that retains the line to the back of the slave cyl.

Now in one fail swoop, with the new oring in place swap the slave cylinders out. When you get the new one on check fluid level again and install new rollpin.

Presto, no air in the system. This is how I replaced mine, at 48,000 miles.

Hey Jim, Just had mine replaced about a month a go. It was not covered under the warranty. They replaced the whole system. The cost was $240 for the parts and $50 for them to do it. Jeff

Thanks since i thought it would be covered i took it to my dealer. when i got back it was in and cost 390 dollars.

I like my dealership i just dont like the price. As i have heard on this site plenty of times. YOU ARE YOUR OWN WARRANTY.

Thank you for the info.
