I have a kevlar clutch by SPEC and it is slipping. I noticed oil coming from the bell housing but I'm not sure if it is engine or transmission. If it is the rear main what kind of job is that.

If the oil is also up between the oil pan and the bell housing, its either the pan seal or the cam shaft plug. those are typicaly more common than the rear seal. Being a mechanic I wouldn't say any of those jobs are very hard. Lots of loabor and busted nuckles, but not a high skill job. The rear seal instalation requires care and maybe even an experienced touch, but instructions and the special tool are pakaged with it from cummins.

you might have the need for a speedy sleeve if it is the rear main wich you would need apuller to get it on . how many miles dos it have?. if the rear main is what is leaking it wont be too big of a job . even if it is the imput shaft seal that also is not a big job. just support the transmission and take the drive shaft off slide it back and you dont eavin need to take it out.

Check your valve cover gasket, mine leaked at the back where you couldnt see, the oil leaked down the back of the engine to the bell housing. I thought I had to do my rear main aswell, but a $ 60. 00 valve cover gasket fixed the problem.

I just put in a new 6 speed and I also had a leaking rear main. It didn't leak bad but it leaked enough to make the old cluch slip on 5X5. If it's the trans leaking you'll know because it will be clean oil coming outa the bell housing. The motor oil will be black. Jake
