Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) clutch swap ?'s

So i didnt take the plate out instead bought a #5 plate form TST. I got it put in and what do you know my clutch is slipping. So i bought a clutch from drivetrain.com. Now when i pull the trany what gear does the gear shifter and the transfer case shifter have to be in, in order for both the shifters to come out. and while i have a thread going i noticed that my truck has not been wanting to start. What i mean is you turn the key and nothing happens. no click or nothin. Tried a new relay and that is not it. Im thinking selinoid or ignition swithch. Your help would be greatly appretiated thanks. and do the bolts holding the fly wheel on have to be torqued.
