Off Roading 315's Rubbing what about this for a fix?

Competition SEMA Show Photos of Edge / Scheid / Houg

Hey all. I am going to make this fast and easy... ...

Doing a 12 valve/6-speed conversion into my Crew-Cab GMC. Anyway, planning on doing quite a bit of pulling with it so I want something that is going to last and is good for the street and for racing.

Yesterday I talked to both EEP and Haisley's. The EEP dual disk was just over $1800 + core for the flywheel and comes with a slave that is able to dissengage the clutch. I told him I didn't have a core and he said because they don't have any used and have a hard time finding them he is going to have to charge me $500 for a new one!!!!!

Haisley's Street Puller is $1941 and there is no core and is SFI aproved flywheel!!!! He said the Comp Puller is also streetable but you have to shift below 2000RPM so that pretty much takes me out of drag racing or what do you think???

Personally I think the Haisleys is the better deal and seems to be a good product.

I have not checked out SBC yet but does anyone know if they have a core charge on there dual disks?

Anyone have any thoughts???

Thanks. . Ryan

Haisleys has a pull slash drag clutch for like 1650$ or so, dont buy the EEP clutch if you want to beable to shift fast mines kinda like driving and old dump truck. Justin I think the core charge he is refering to is because he dosent have a flywheel to send them one.

Jesse,

I still have my stock flywheel sittin in the garage.

There was no core charge or did I have to send the stock flywheel back.

The SBC flywheel is proprietary and cannot be made from a stock flywheel.

I have driven a few EEP clutches and can shift them just as fast as stock. I have a SB DD, but if I was building a pulling/racing truck I would go with EEP. Never heard anything bad of them or Haisley's for that matter.

call peter at southbend clutch 1800-9884345. Tell him what u are doing and what you plan on doing with the truck. He will take care of you and build you a clutch for what you are going to do with it and HE WILL STAND BEHIND IT!!!!!!! Peter is a great guy with a great product.

I have put south bend dual disks in two of my trucks and love em'.

I would go with the EEP clutch for pulling. I don't no what the cost on the SBC pulling clutch is, but I know that the (3850) 10 button will no hold up for trucks that make 500 to 700 HP??????????

Ryan

I've got a SBC DD and I love it and as far as peter he does stand behind his clutch I'm very happy with him on that deal. just had mine sent back from him after he rebuild it for a very small price for all the work he had to do to it. My self I would not think twice about the SBC DD clutch.

If you plan on pulling a lot in the states, you will need a SFI clutch and flywheel, depending on your mods. If you can hold off a month, buying one, till everyone gets their rules out, it may save you some cash.

Silver03, Peter has since redesigned his DD clutch. The disc's now have 12 button's instead of 10. I have a 3850 12 Ceramic Button DD waiting for install next weekend! Oo.

I have nothing bad to say about the SBC clutch. I just know the 3850 10 button will not hold up to pulling. Trust me, I have seen two clutchs destroyed and had to tow them home.

Thanks for all the reply's guys!!!!!!!! I was going to hold off buying the clutch untill the spring time but because the price of the US Dollar right now (exchange rate) I am thinking of getting it now unless it goes even lower. One year ago we would have to pay 60cents on the US dollar and now we only have to pay . 18 (that is a HUGE difference) and it could keep going down.

As far as pulling down in the States... ... . I have heard about suspension mods and I am not sure I would be able to pull down there in a class that I will competative in. Could someone look at these few pics and tell me what you think??? (Okay, I have the pics but can't get the rezised on my computer at work so I will post them tomorrow)

Does anyone know about the EEP being SFI anytime soon? I would really like there clutch but because of that $500 core it is scarring me!!!!! Does anyone have a part# for the stock flywheel?
