Last night, when I pushed my clutch pedal to the floor, it was not stopping all the countershafts in the transmission, and would not let me get it into gear, unless I just JAMMED it into gear, which makes me feel uncomfortable... Is there any way to adjust these clutches??? please help!!

or, the CLutch master/slave cylinders have developed internal leaking.

ANother trick to do,, try bumping it into a higher gear first.

Go into 3rd gear, then into 2nd gear.

Or if it is really bad, go into 6th gear, 4th gear, 3rd gear, then 2nd.

My 6-speed exhibits this same problem occasionally?? What gives? I dunno.

Chris,

Did you look under the dash where the linkage from the clutch pedal pivots and pushes the shaft into the clutch master cylinder? Sometimes the plastic bushing brakes, making too much play in the pedal and you'll have to put it all the way to the floor to disengage clutch.

Presently my truck is at the dealer for this problem, It happened at 38,000 miles and now again at 78,000 miles. Both times I could not get the truck out of second gear and when the brakes were applied the engine pulled like a locomotive. Could have hit someone or struck another car. Turned the key off. Both times required a Master Cylinder and slave cylinder replacement(an Integral Unit) . Either I am driving this thing wrong or there is a design error, the situation is dangerous. This time the clutch pedal gave out and didn't seem attached to anything when I tried to drive it later in the day.

Since the truck was totally disabled, had to have it towed---60mi to a five star dealer. The dealer was very professional and I think that they did quality work. $630 for a clutch master cylinder--parts and labor. I hope the clutch master assembly doesn't go for a third time in another 30k. The breakdown occurred on a Saturday afternoon so I didn't have many options.

You may want to call Peter at South Bend Clutch he has slave and master cylinders seperate and will cost a lot less, so much so that you could buy one now and have on hand for the next time. This will only help if you want to do the work your self or find a shop that will take your parts and install them.
