ok before you guys get on me about bad shifting i know this is terrable but im still used to diving ford powerstrokes and they act different. anyways the otehr day i downshifted i forget what gear but as i did i slowly reved up the motor and started easying the clutch out thing is i did get the rpm up enough and the engine didn't just freewheel up to it as the clutch engaged(the powerstroke thing) anyways when my clutch enaged it slowed the tires so much that the started squeling now this happened at about 30 mph and it seems to me a 6200 lb truck going 30 would put alot more pressure on the clutch then what it could hold and would slip. but it didn't not that i could feel. so my question is, is thing thing stock like the guy said he thought it was or is it an aftermarket. is there any not so labor intensive way of checking. thanls in advanced

match the road speed to rpm before letting the clutch out. . and that won't happen..... from the sounds of it your clutch sounds stout. . does it slip on hard accel?

when my truck was empty, it would do the ssame thing if I let off too quick. I don't know what is in it as far as clutch goes, but it has held up. I have no reason to believe it is anything but a stock clutch. Bought the truck at about 200,000miles so someone before me probably changed the clutch. I rarely match speeds when I down shfit, unless it will be a hard one. But for normal loping around town, its all clutch.

i normally match speeds the thing is w/ our power stroke you push in the clutch it will rev up enough and if its not perfect then will adjust smoothly the cummins is a little different and im still getting used to it. as for sliping on hard acel i don't notice any hear a lot of what sounds like grinding in 4th w/ hard acel but not really slipage. so its got me wondering
