SVO/WVO kit reviews...

cold weather fuel additive/treatment discussion

I cannot find much on this topic. Has anyone done this or seen a kit. I'm not looking for a conversion kit,I found plenty of those. I have a nat gas station close to work and I think it's cleaner burning than propane(could be wrong about this). If anyone has any information on this I would appreciate it.

I did a google search using "CNG into Diesel Injection" as search criteria and found a bunch of hits! It is being used. The application will be up to you to determine. Good Luck! Sounds very interesting!!!! GregH

I don't know if it makes a difference to you, but natural gas has less BTU/cu-ft than propane. I presume natural gas injection would require a larger orifice.

Bill , under typical use, yes. That is standard procedure on furnaces and water heaters.

Fumigation is the terminology used here where NG is injected into the air supply, pre-turbo, as I understand the process.

This is a new process for me. I am definitely interested in doing a setup on my truck. However, not at $1500. The plumbing I can do myself. If it is pre-turbo, that just creates an excuse to tear out that 4 1/2" corrugated, elk bugle of an intake duct:-laf.

I would need to see more information than what is available. However, the real expense is a fill station. If my truck will last another 10 years, it could be worth that investment. GregH

Thanks guys. I punched in natural gas diesel for the search and the only thing I got was conversion kits. Didn't even think about punching in CNG and diesel. I ran bio in my truck for a few years and then the BBQ place I got my grease from went out of business. Now people want to pay for grease when restaurants used to pay to get rid of it. SO I saw the CNG pump by work and I thought that if you can inject with propane CNG should work. Thanks for the links, now I have some homework to do.

Okay I was driving by the CNG station by work and I saw someone there in a duramax. So i pulled in and sure enough he was filling a cng tank in his tool box. He said the kit isn't the big money part it's the tank. New tank's in the range of 1200-1500. He said if I could find a used tank it lowers cost dramatically. So the search begins for a used cng tank.

OK I know it's been a year but I finally got going on the project. I bought the kit from NDI systems and got it all hooked up except the tank. I have found a few and have it narrowed down to a few different suppliers. I had my hopes on a cheap one from ebay but the guy selling them still hasn't responded,I clicked on buy it now and ebay said I couldn't complete the order without shipping calculated. Sent seller message on ebay 5 days ago still no response. I found a company in so-cal for new ones so I might just head down there pick up a tank and go visit my dad. Will update when done, should be weeks instead of a year

Okay kit installed and ordered a new tank from the place in so-cal. The guy on ebay selling used 10 gallon tanks is a total flake and still hasn't responded to me. After first fill up I didn't notice much of a difference. So I adjusted screw on back of regulator as instructed by MAtt at NDI systems and then I could feel it. However I noticed after 1/2 tank of diesel CNG gage onlu went down 1/4 tank. Matt said sometimes the regulator doesn't work well with aftermarket air intakes since the regulator works off of vacuum pressure. So he's sending me a boost switch that will work with regulator. I can't wait to feel the full power of the CNG. I'm pretty sure I'm getting close to full power when I really get on it because I've left some people standing that were trying to pass me (I hate cutters).

hi to help with cng, i am an alternative fuel systems engineer, to help please watch my videos on youtube. just type my name in google and go to videos, youll see alot. I can wwrite a book about the effects and advantages of cng in a diesel, I worked with duramax in 2004 on the effects of warranties with gm.
type "shawn capson" in google. cng is awesome if done right. PLease for the love of god do not buy ebay cng kits. the cheap china regulators have check valves and little screws that fall out and will go into your turbo, and scientifically you cannot "throw an unmetered" ammount of cng into the intake. At idle you cannot use more than 12% cng, but at load, like 10psi boost, you can run up to 50%, so you need a controller to meter it. Thats where i came in and made a kit for a guy who paid me well to do it for him. I hope you like my videos. shawn

Ok Shawn has mentioned an important thing. The regulator I have now is only getting 30% CNG at best. It doesn't come on at idele since it's controlled by boost switch and doesn't come on until around 4 psi. I'm gonna do a search for Shawns stuff and let you know what I find. I'm definitely getting some more mileage the way it is especially freeway driving at 70-75.
