I just got back from a long weekend in NH, spent some time on the cog railway, which goes to the top of Mt. Washington. Here's one pic. , I have many more, just need some free web space to post them. I'm lost without Photopoint, anyone have some ideas ???

These engines are pretty cool. They use approx. 1,000 gallons of water and one ton of coal to push the passenger car to the summit. We had a blast !!! This was my second time at Mt. Washington and the first for my two daughters, even they were impressed with the black smoke  .

oh man. . i remember going on that when i was like 9 years old. .

as for the photo hosting stuff... i like webshots because they allow for larger image posting [like xga & sxga resolution]. there are others like picturetrail that work well too, but the max resolution they post is vga [600x480]. bigger is better i think:)

Hey Scott-

I bet that you sat in the front of the train with the windows rolled down just so that you could feel the soot land on you skin! :D

We have a couple of narrow gauge trains right across the street from us (http://www.roaringcamp.com/). They are great for riding up into the redwood trees or you can take a larger one down to the beach.

Cary, not sure on the proper name, but it uses a center rail cog like the one in the pic. below. I bought this at the gift shop, part of the old track, which was laid in the late 1800's I believe.

Nick, thanks for the info, gonna check out webshots for sure  .

David, LOL you know me way too well ;) . You had better believe that I was the one with the window down, taking in all the smells and soot :D . Bad thing was that my oldest daughter caught a good sized chunk of soot in the eye, which I wiped out ( the soot not the eye) and told her it was all part of the experience. My wife had this to say :-{} .
