Now that I've settled into a nice routine with Ol' Tar Baby it's time to be a little picky. My steering wheel is cocked off to the left about 5 degrees when going down the road. When I first got the truck it wandered around abit but after adjusting the tire pressure most of that has been corrected (after all it's a TRUCK). I was wondering if anyone else has seen the same and if there is a correction or do I need to go see a dealer... . (I hate that).

Bear834,
Assuming that the track bar is not worn beyond service limits -

You need to adjust the drag link to center the steering wheel. The drag link goes from the pitman arm to the passenger side steering knuckle. It has a threaded adjuster shortens/lengthens the drag link. Adjust it so that steering wheel is straight ahead when travelling on a FLAT (not crowned) straight road. Don't forget to even out the air pressure in your front tires #ad

Thanks for the replies.

With 2300 miles I doubt it's the trackbar but the adjustment to the drag link might just be the answer.

Thanks again.

Bear,
Good to see you back! Where you been??

On the steering, does the steering wheel sit straight when the tires are straight forward when stopped?? That would tell you if you had to make any adjustments.

Bear, my steering wheel was also off about 5 degrees after a couple days of driving when new. I just adjusted the drag link myself and now it is O. K. . It was a lot less hassle to do it myself than take it to the dealer. #ad

It is off when on flat level ground.
I see there is a TSB out on the steering and I think I will head for the dealer.

Mine is off also... . If it is just as easy as adjusting the drag link then I may take a shot at it also. The truck drives fine but the steering wheel is cocked to the left. It's been that way since I bought it.

Mine is also off about 5 degrees to the left. I have been playing with the tire pressure but the wander is still there. My truck is flawless except for the wander and no halo light, even the owners manual says it lights. I am printing out all the treads on these problems and shortly will visit my 5 star and see what he says.
