yesterday My 2000 dodge popped up code 0253 the injector pump open circuit. It came on breifly when i left the drive way. I pulled over plugged in the scanner and cleared the code. I have only driven it about 10 miles since the code but not sure what might have caused this to happen. I have read guys have issues where they ground there comp boxes, i have an juice box but i did ground it to the battery.

Can that just happen once and not really be a big issue?

Thanks

CH,

Several things can trigger this DTC...

Battery dropping below 12 volts with the VP44 operating.

Loose, corroded, or damaged pins at the injection pump connector.

A wiring fault in the VP44 harness (broken wires and/or a bad ground connection).

Malfunctioning fuel injection pump relay.

And worst case...

A failing VP44!

I think I'd start by replacing the fuel injection pump relay which is located in the PDC (Power Distribution Center) on the driver side fender under the hood. It's a common relay available at any good auto parts store. If the DTC comes back, I think I'd try clearing the code and wiggling the injection pump wiring harness to see if I could cause it to happen again.

You might also want to look at simply removing are reattaching the VP44 connector several times to make sure the pins are making good contact.

Good luck,

John L.

Mine was the fueling box/and or the fueling box wiring harness. If it continues with the code I would try disconnecting the box and putting it back to stock to eliminate that part and see if the code reappears or not.
